It was really a grand show to attract almost all the Malayalies in Bangalore to the prestigious “Confident Group Asianet TV Awards 2006” at the Palace Grounds on 25th of November, 2006. The auditorium was packed with an enthusiastic crowd who were eagerly awaiting for their dear and near stars who come to their homes daily through their favorite TV shows.
The program started exactly at 6:30 pm. For the first time in the history of Asianet the TV awards also had film personalities receiving and giving away the awards. Awards were given for 15 categories . Some of the top dignitaries present at the event were, Padmashree Bharath Mohanlal, famous mega star of the Malayalam Film industry, Mr. Rajiv Chandrashekar, Chairman of Asianet , Mr. K.Madavan , Managing Director of Asianet and Mr. Roy C J, Chairman and Managing Director of the Confident Group . The Confident Group were the main sponsors of the event.
The greatest applause was when Padmashree Bharath Mohanlal who all were eagerly waiting for arrived at the venue. He graced the evening with his usual charm and charismatic appearance and had the audience in raptures with his short and sweet speech. Mohanlal gave away the best actor award to Siddique and the outstanding contribution to mega serial to Ms Vinaya Prasad. The cash award was presented by Mr Roy. C J Chairman And Managing Director Confident Group.Mr. Roy C J also presented a momento to Mr. Mohanlal,on behalf of the Confident Group. Mr. K Madhavan managing director of Asianet presented a momento on their behalf to Mr. Roy C J Managing Director of Confident Group
Mr. Sunil Krishnan, CEO of Confident Group gave away the best actress award to Ms. Lena.
The entire event was a celebration with super dance performances by famous Cine actresses like Ms. Laksmi Gopala Swami, Ms. Priya Mani, Ms. Neetu Thomas. Others who added flavour to the dance performance was Dance team from Garden City College and Bangalore Malayalee Association. The other major attractions were the beautiful song feast by famous singer Ms.Chithra, who is known as the nightingale of South India and Mr. M.G. Sreekumar, another very famous singer from Kerala. Famous comedy troupe “Cinemala Team”, Comedy Cousins Team and Skit by Sammanassullavarkku Samadhanam Team, made the gathering burst out in peals of laughter.
